There is More!

God was silent for 400 years between Malachi and Mathew. Things were of course happening, but can you imagine the people who were faithful to God. Just waiting…and waiting…and waiting some more. 400 years! That is a very long time of silence. I wonder if they thought, is this how it is always going to be, got discouraged or felt like giving up on God?
Imagine that day when the angel of the Lord appeared in front of the shepherds bringing the news of the birth of Jesus. He is speaking good news! And now today Jesus is always with us! And even though Jesus is with us, some of us might think this is it, this is how it is always going to be in my life. I confess, I have thought this before when I have gone through some trials – “Are you there, God?”
We have to open our hearts up to the new things God wants to do in our life. Open our minds up to possibilities. God does not work like we do. He does not think like we do. The Bible says in Isaiah 55:8-9 “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts” (NIV). We may occasionally feel like we are waiting for a long time for God to move in our life, especially when we are persevering through a difficult season, but God is always at work, even when we do not understand it.
This is one of my goals for 2022 is to be more open to what God wants to do in my life, what He wants to teach me, how He wants to change and grow me. I know this is not it. The 400 years of silence is over! It was over when Jesus came! God is not finished writing your story - there is more!
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for working in my life. On days when it feels like this is how it is always going to be, help me to open my mind and heart to the new things You want to do in my life. In Jesus’ Name I Pray, Amen.
