Now is Not the Time to Give Up On What You have Planted!

I finally planted my vegetables seeds a little over a week ago for my garden. Have you been planting the Word of God in your life? Where you hear His Word, grow in it and see a good outcome from applying it? Are you believing and persevering through instead of giving up on what you started?

Luke 8:15 But the seed on good soil stands for those with a noble and good heart, who hear the word, retain it, and by persevering produce a crop (NIV).

There is this story in 2 Kings 8 of a Shunammite woman who left her home because Elisha told her to leave due to a famine that was coming. She waited seven years for the famine to end and then she was restored back to her home.

As I think about this story of the Shunammite woman, she was obedient to the word that was given to her and she persevered through that time in her life. She did not give up over the course of the seven years that she was away from her home. I would think she had to be hopeful that God would one day restore her back to her land, or else she would not have gone back home.

Now is not the time to give up on what you have planted in your life! There may be times that we have to persevere through something longer than we would like. But keep your faith, keep growing and nurturing your life with God. And, if you notice in the story, it says at the end of seven years the famine ended. The number seven means completion and perfection. God is so good to bring to completion the seeds we start in our life on good soil if we keep persevering. It will bring a crop! Now is not the time to give up on what you have planted!

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for being my strong foundation in my life. I pray that I will hear Your Word, be obedient to it and see a harvest of the goodness it brings! In Jesus’ Name I Pray, Amen.
