Have you ever wondered what it would be like if we did not have light? If we did not have the sun? I decided to do a little research as I was curious on what would happen if the sun disappeared. According to Discovery, "The sun is the anchor point of the solar system – at 333,000 times the mass of earth, it exerts a hefty pull that keeps the planets locked in their orbits" (Discovery, 2019). The One who created light, created the sun as an anchor point, without it, there would not be life!

I love how God works – Jesus, the Son, is the light of the world – John 8:12 When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life" (NIV).

When God made the light, He said it was good (Genesis 1:4). Some days may look brighter than others, but behind the gloomy days, Jesus is shining His Light. He gives us light to travel through the darkness (Psalm 119:105). Darkness will never take over the light (John 1:5). And when the light is in you, it shines through you onto other people (Mathew 5:16).

As you enjoy the Christmas lights illuminating the dark night or twinkling on the Christmas tree in your living room, have a sunny day, see the morning sunrises and evening sunsets, look at the moon and the stars or turn on that light switch in your home, remember there is a greater light that shines even brighter that will never go out! His name is Jesus – the Light of the world – and He is holding it all together to bring you life among the darkness!

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for being the Light of the world and outshining the darkness in my life! Thank You that even on dark days, You can put a smile on my face. I pray that Your Light will shine through me onto others so they too can experience the joy that You bring in the heart of people. In Jesus' Name I Pray, Amen.
