When I am in a valley (going through a difficult time) my feelings get the best of me instead of trusting that God is right there with me. I heard someone say this one time, "Don't lead by your feelings, but rather by faith." Often times our feelings get the best of us. They do for me at times. I will get overwhelmed or stressed out in certain situations that will leave me having that feeling like is God even with me? Does He even hear me when I call out to Him? God is so good to reassure us that He is with us all the time. We should not let our feelings get the best of us like Satan would like them to, and leave us feeling discouraged even when we have not seen deliverance yet. Reading God's Word gives us a hope inside that not all is lost.
What does your valley look like today? Are you struggling financially, sick and in need of healing, fighting anxiety, looking for joy in the midst of your sadness, struggling in your marriage, etc.? This word confirms that God will meet us in the valleys too - 1 Kings 20:28 The man of God came up and told the king of Israel, "This is what the Lord says: 'Because the Arameans think the Lord is a god of the hills and not a god of the valleys, I will deliver this vast army into your hands, and you will know that I am the Lord'" (NIV).
The Israelites were battling the Arameans and the Arameans moved the battle to the plains, because they thought that God was not going to help the Israelites in the valley. They thought God is only the god of the hills. They were WAY wrong! God delivered them while they were in the valley.
Even in our valleys, when we think all is lost and we have not seen a break through, know God is right there with you. He will meet you in the valley. Do not lose hope - God is a deliverer!
