God is Fighting for You!

I took a picture of my garden before I take it all down. I actually neglected to take it down at the end of the season last year. Our life can look like this garden – a hot mess. It is definitely looking dead and already starting to grow weeds in it.

When we surrender our life over to God, all of this stuff begins to get tore down and taken out of our life. As He is our gardener – John 15:1 “I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener (NIV).” It is a beautiful thing as He transforms our life.

As I journeyed through the book of Nehemiah, in chapter 13 he went back to Jerusalem after returning to the king and when he came back, they were already neglecting the things of the church and working on the Sabbath. He explained to them that was what got them sent into exile in the first place. He was fighting for the people not to return down that same road.

In our own lives, we can begin to neglect the things of the church and fall into wanting what the world has to offer and not the good things that God has to offer. We may disregard the instructions and teaching that God gives us. And the crazy thing is, if it changes us for the good, then how come we don’t want to do it sometimes? God is fighting for us! He is fighting for us to have an abundant life (John 10:10) and to live in eternity with Him (John 3:16).

You have to want to fight for you too! Fight for your freedom from things like fear, bitterness, worry, self-doubt, etc. You have to want that change too. Don’t let what God started in you die. Keep fighting to tear down and take out all the unwanted stuff. When you are teamed up with God anything is possible through Him who strengthens you (Philippians 4:13). See the way God sees you, victorious!

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for working in my life and transforming me to be more like you. I pray my life will reflect You as You continue to work on me. I am thankful I have You who is fighting for me! In Jesus’ Name I Pray, Amen.
