Delight in the Lord

I’ve never had so much fun as I do with Jesus as a friend. The last couple of years our Christmas tree has been wild – elf feet coming out, an assortment of ornaments, bright colors and then up at the top is this beautiful angel that you would probably find on an elegant looking tree. I love what my husband said this year as he looked at our tree, “Jesus likes to have fun, too!” He does! So don’t think that He won’t bring happiness and a whole lot of fun in your life!

It says in Psalms 37:4 Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart (NIV).

We all have things we desire in our hearts and I believe that God wants to give those things to us as I read todays verse, but it takes delighting ourselves in Him. What might that look like? Being a part of His world and taking interest in the Word of God. Reading the Bible is a great place to start. Yes, it may be hard to read in some places, but when God brings it to life, because He is alive, it makes you want more! Taste and see that the Lord is good (Psalm 34:8). Spending as much time with Him as you can - making room for a relationship that is not off and on. You will find Jesus becoming your best friend when you take interest in Him.

I know as 2022 approaches I want more of Jesus. The more I grow in Him, the more I find Him showing me things that I love doing like writing, reading, smiling more, having more fun and changing for the better. Those are desires of my heart. Doing things that make me happy and experiencing that joy with Him.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for making me smile and giving me the desires of my heart. I pray I will grow closer to You this next year! In Jesus’ Name I Pray, Amen.
