Thankful through Everything

I never thought I would have white sheets with little ones in the house, but we decided to do it. The white had faded and we had some stains, so it was time to bleach them. While I was waiting for them to finish in the washer, I sat down to read different Bible verses on thankfulness. I came across this verse – 1 Thessalonians 5:18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.
I know not everyone is going to feel very thankful this season. It is hard to be thankful in every circumstance, especially when you are going through a tough time. The holidays may be overwhelming or even depressing for some people. For some, families all cannot be together, and with everything that is going on in the world today, it is hard to be thankful.
This Thanksgiving, I pray that we will try and have faith it is going to get better, because Jesus gives us that hope. He took our sin and washed it whiter than snow (Psalm 51:7), and gave us promises – promises that one day there will be no more tears, pain, death or mourning (Revelation 21:4). So, when we look at our life with faith in our hearts, we can be thankful even in those times we do not feel thankful. Just like my dirty sheets needing cleaned, I am thankful Jesus has taken my sinful life which was dirty, and made me clean, and giving me that future promise with Him!
Dear Heavenly Father, thank You that You took my sins and washed them away! I am thankful that I have You that keeps me looking forward in life to the best that is yet to come! In Jesus’ Name I Pray, Amen.
